Building Our Community
The Quatsino First Nation’s Housing Authority is the driving force behind the upkeep and renovation of our homes. The Housing Director liaises between homeowners and Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) officials. The Housing Authority is instrumental in long-term planning for future housing phases, employment for families, and playgrounds and recreation in the community.
Housing-driven initiatives in the village planned for the next year include:
- ongoing INAC funded renovations
- development of a comprehensive community plan (funded by INAC)
- proposal development and construction of a multiplex with joint funding with Coast Sustainability Trust
- focused community research (funded by New Relationship Trust)
- a training internship employment program (funded by CMHC)
