Economic Development

The Quatsino First Nation has a long and varied history of involvement with resource economies within our traditional territory. From forestry to fishing to mining, we have operated both independent companies and entered into joint venture partnerships with outside industry.

In 2007 the QFN and the QFN Economic Development Corporation (QFNEDC) formed a Limited Partnership. This partnership established the QFNEDC as the main organizing body for developing new economies within our territory. Among its larger holdings is the 41 hectare Quatsino First Nation Industrial Park, located just north of Coal Harbour adjacent to Quatsino Sound. As well, the QFNEDC manages some of the QFN’s internal companies, such as the Quatsino Forestry Company and Quattishe Forest Products.

The Corporation is governed by a board appointed by Chief and Council as follows: one Quatsino Band Council representative, two Quatsino First Nation members, and three at large members appointed by the Nation.
